We’re heating up your feel good end of summer mix only on The Manamal’s Pit!

KeelKeel is an American heavy metal band founded in 1984 in Los Angeles, California. They are known for their rock anthem “The Right to Rock.” The band was active until 1989, with a brief reunion in 1998. Keel reunited again in 2008 and toured in 2009 for their 25th anniversary. Although the band is still active to this day, they have not released any new material since 2010. We’ve pulled Keel’s best deep kutz out of The Manamal’s Vault this week! Featuring albums like “The Final Frontier“, “The Right To Rock“, “Back In Action“, “Lay Down The Law“, the self titled “Keel” and “Streets Of Rock & Roll” spanning 40 years of killer hair metal.

BadlandsAn American heavy metal band founded by former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Jake E. Lee, former Black Sabbath members Ray Gillen (vocals), Eric Singer (drums), as well as former Surgical Steel bass player Greg Chaisson. After the first Badlands album, Eric Singer was replaced by Jeff Martin. The group lasted from 1988 to 1993 and released three albums, “Badlands (1989) and “Voodoo Highway” (1991) were released before Gillen left and was replaced by singer John West from New York. Gillen’s death in 1993 effectively ended any hopes of re-uniting the project. The album “Dusk” (a demo recorded in 1992-93) was released in 1998 with the then deceased Gillen on vocals. You know it we’ve got the best of all three albums in the mix!

Ratt – An American glam metal band formed in San Diego in 1976, that had significant commercial success in the 1980s, with their albums having been certified as gold, platinum, and multi-platinum by the RIAA. The group is best known for their hit singles “Round and Round” and “Lay It Down,” both of which charted in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. Other songs such as “Wanted Man,” “You’re in Love,” “Dance,” and “Way Cool Jr.” also charted on the Hot 100. The band’s classic line-up consisted of Stephen Pearcy on lead vocals, Robbin Crosby on lead and rhythm guitar, Warren DeMartini on lead and rhythm guitar, Juan Croucier on bass guitar, and Bobby Blotzer on drums. Along with groups like Mötley Crüe, Ratt has been recognized as instrumental in the formation of the early 1980s Los Angeles glam metal scene. Hear the best of The Atlantic Years and beyond with all the “big ones” and killer deep cuts you’ve never heard before.

Heavy Pettin’Scottish hard rock outfit Heavy Pettin’ was formed in Glasgow in mid-1981 when the trio of guitarist Gordon Bonnar, bassist Brian Waugh and drummer Gary Moat–known collectively as Weeper–added vocalist Steve Hayman (a.k.a. “Hamie”) and lead guitarist Punky Mendoza to the lineup. The band is still going today and we have all the best of in your party mix rockers.

Jackyl – 1991 Jackyl shot out of Georgia with its wild, untamed and uncouth approach to rock ‘n’ roll with original members Dupree, lead vocals, guitar and chain saw; Jeff Worley, guitar and backing vocals; and Chris Worley, drums; with bass player Roman Glick, formerly of Brother Cane. Equal parts hard rock, heavy metal and Southern rock, Jackyl formed in 1991 and brought back rock ‘n’ roll back — back to its down-to-earth, wild, fun-loving origins. Full of spit and swagger — and a “dirty” sense of humor to boot — Jackyl quickly earned a deal with Geffen Records. Jackyl’s live shows were already legendary before the ink dried on the Geffen contract. The 1992 self-titled debut album went platinum and featured notable rock radio hits like “Down On Me,” “When Will It Rain,” “I Stand Alone” and, most notably, “The Lumberjack,” during which vocalist Jesse James Dupree performed a chain-saw solo. Dupree’s chain-saw escapades on album and in concert became one of many Jackyl trademarks. It’s n0t a party without Jackyl in the mix!

Cats In BootsWhilst the likes of Mötley Crüe, Ratt and White Lion would enjoy repeated success during the late 1980s, there were countless other hair metal groups that would be considered nothing more than one hit wonders. One such band was Cats in Boots, whose 1989 single Shotgun Sally received a modest amount of airplay on music channels. Original Members Joel Ellis “lead vocals, harmonica) Yasuhiro “Butch”, Hatae (bass, vocals), Randy Meers (drums, vocals), Takashi “Jam” O’Hashi (guitars, vocals) featured on the 1989 album “Kicked And Klawed. The release is a must have for any old school rocker. The complete album is featured in your heavy metal party mix.

Enuff Z’Nuff – Enuff Z’Nuff is an American rock band from Blue Island, Illinois, founded by singer Donnie Vie and bassist Chip Z’Nuff. The Chicago-area band is best known for their charting singles “Fly High Michelle” and “New Thing“. Over the years the band has consistently put out some great deep cuts and yep, we have em’ spinning for you guys.

Killer Dwarfs – Killer Dwarfs are a Canadian heavy metal band that formed in late 1981 in Oshawa, Ontario and enjoyed moderate success in its native Canada in the 1980s. Known for its offbeat sense of humor, the band was nominated for two Juno Awards during its career. One album in particular deserves its rotations in the rock n’ roll party mix, “Dirty Weapons” released in early 1990 is an absolute banger from start to finish. You rockers will love these Killer Dwarfs jams!

Outlaw BloodOutlaw Blood were another, in a long list of unknown bands trying their hand at rock ‘n’ roll fame in the late 80’s/early 90’s.Outlaw Blood were a Hollywood strip, sleazy, hard rock band who release this one major label album and then disappeared into obscurity. Unfortunately, despite having the mighty Atco behind them, this CD is relatively unheard of. The band offers up a nice mixture of songs with hard rockers like “Tower of Love” and “I’m N Shock“, bluesy numbers like “Last Act” and obligatory ballads, “Every Day I Die“. The original lineup was as follows; Marc McCoy (vocals),  Marti Frederiksen (guitar and vocals), Rick Harchol (lead guitar), Nick ‘The Hammer’ Parise (bass), Larry Aberman drums

Roxx Gang – Roxx Gang was an American glam metal band formed in 1982 in St. Petersburg, Florida. It was fronted by Kevin Steele, who formed the band along with guitarist Eric Carrell. The band garnered record company attention in 1987 with its “Love ‘Em and Leave ‘Em demo. The band recorded its debut album “Things You’ve Never Done Before (1988) on Virgin Records from which it released two singles “No Easy Way Out” and “Scratch My Back” with the lineup now consisting of Steele, Jeff Taylor Blanchard (guitar), Wade Hayes (guitar), Roby “Strychnine” Strine (bass), and David James Blackshire (drums). It was produced by Beau Hill and went on to sell a quarter million copies worldwide. Well hell ya, you know it’s in your party mix!

Tune in and hear these killer highlights this week and much more only on
